Snowmobiling Fun

Over Valentine's Day weekend, Bob and I flew in to Salt Lake for a snowmobiling adventure. We met up with Ted and Debbie Conger (Bob's cousin) and Jim and Glenda Prause (Bob's childhood buddy). We all drove up to Ashton, ID to a cabin we rented.

After we got the cabin warmed up (thanks to our 3 boy scouts who built a fire in the wood stove), and ate a wonderful soup that Debbie made, we had a wonderful evening of conversation before we all headed to bed.

On Friday, we woke up to a several inches of new snow and it was still snowing. After a good breakfast that Jim and Glenda fixed, we all went out on double snowmobiles (3 of them). We headed up to Cave Falls. I chose the wrong gloves and didn't put an extra layer of socks on, so I got a little cold on my extremities. It was fun to get out and try something new with good friends.

On Saturday, we got up to a beautifully sunny day. Unfortunately, one of the snowmobiles decided to not function well, so we had to leave one person behind (we had one high performance snowmobile that we took out). So Glenda agreed to stay back. On this day, we all headed to Mesa Falls. It was absolutely gorgeous. I even got to drive the snowmobile with Jim on the back (and Bob was driving the high performance one).

Later when we went back to Cave Falls, I drove the snowmobile by myself. I even got to drive it on a non-trail out in the potato fields. Jim said it would be totally cool and I was fine as long as I kept going. I did really good, but he was a little sheepish after he went out as the snow was really powdery and they even had problems not getting stuck.

Evenings were fun, too - we watched the Opening Ceremonies to the Olympics one night and Over the Hedge another night. Times inbetween, we put together a farm puzzle. It was fun to hang out with good friends/family.

The Yakima (Central Washington) Fair

What fun taking kids and grandkids to the fair. It's just like old times - remember when we used to go to the Yakima Fair with Bonnie and Delos? Peyton LOVES the pony ride. Tyler (daddy) loves the walk beside his little girl.

Maddy just loves watching her sister ride the pony!
EVERYONE has fun at the Fair - Megan and Aaron show their prowess for farming while Tyler and Aaron watch Peyton in the Corn bin.

Peyton and Maddy are good buds! Ride 'em cowgirls!

And then there is the support crew - GG (Great Grandma Conger), Bob, Megan and Katie - and the unsung hero - the photographer - Nana!

At Nana's House - makin' cookies & dressing up

Katie, Peyton and Maddy take a photo break.

Peyton and Maddy - Dressing up is fun to do!

No trip is complete without baking together at Nana's house! Peyton could hardly wait to lick the spatula! Some things are just hereditary!

Farming Nana's Style

Addy and Peyton love to pick Nana's cherry tomatoes. Addy loves to eat them like popcorn; Peyton enjoys keeping them in the bowl.

Going to the Zoo

Bekah, Megan, Addy, and Jacqui - starting out at the zoo. But Addy would rather push the stroller than ride in it....boy is she independent!

What's big and gray and makes a trumpet sound?
It's the elephants!

My 2 little monkeys - how cute is that?

Nothing phases Jacqui - she just loves smiling and that makes Megan smile.

Nana and Addy taking a break at the zoo.

It's almost the whole group - I guess one of us needs to take the pictures. We certainly can't do a timed picture or someone would escape!

Making Brownies

Megan wanted to spend some time with Addy so she decided to make brownies with her. Addy was so excited so she got her apron/bib on. Addy helped Megan crack the eggs, hold the mixer and blend everything together. It was so much fun watching Megan and Addy make brownies.

It was fun to watch Addy try to eat the batter while it was being mixed. But she did learn patience and waited to the end so she could lick the spatula. (It almost looks like she's eating the spatula.) Hey, this is more fun than a movie - well, almost!

Skype - our new best friend

We don't have pictures yet, but last night we got to talk face to face with Trevor, Bekah, Addy and Jacqui - yet they were in Japan and we are in Sammamish! It was so-o-o-o fun. Next best thing to being there! I'll get a picture next time.

Trevor & Bekah - Half Way Around the World?

Trevor went just about as far away as he could to college (Boston, MA), then to Japan on his mission, and now he's taking his family back to Japan for 2 years - do you have to take the grandkids, too?
